"The
Picasso"
I was commissioned
to do a neon and metal piece based on this Picasso drawing, which was
owned by my client. I determined that it would be too complicated technically
to execute this as one piece of art, so I decided to create two pieces
of art (the "artist" as one piece, and the "work"
as one piece). I envisioned that they could be displayed together or as
two separate pieces of art. I discussed with my client the need to make
the "knife" in the drawing smaller and less threatening, as
he has a cosmetic surgery practice and planned to display my work in his
office. After sending sketches of what I had in mind and getting the approval
of my client, I proceeded to create the pieces shown on the next page.
